Oncor says more than 33,000 homes and businesses lost electricity Thursday during a second day of storms in North Texas.

However by 3:30 p.m. Oncor says that number dropped to 4,000 across the Metroplex, down from 17,000 at noon.

Rain and lightning continued early Thursday in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a day after hail the size of quarters was recorded.

Crews with Dallas-based Oncor Electric worked to restore power. Most of the outages were in the Fort Worth area. Oncor says the outages followed in the storm's path but there were no major problems.

The outages caused some minor headaches for drivers, businesses and home owners on Thursday. Fort Worth Police had to direct traffic through the intersection at Alta Mesa Drive and McCart Avenue until power was restored in the early afternoon.

At Sister's Beauty Salon on McCart owner Victoria Gomez and hairstylist Aquanita Robinson waited with customers for the power to come back on.

"There's nothing we can do but wait it out," Robinson said.

"We have all the customers here waiting, we need to make some money," Gomez said jokingly. "So please get the power on."
