That's the Way T-Shirt Business Go

MLB, Rangers shut down popular T-shirts

Ron Washington’s ungrammatical quote, “That’s the way baseball go,” caught fire in these parts and became quite the buzz-phrase during the playoffs.

Some entrepreneurial friends grabbed it by the antlers and produced T-shirts bearing the Texas Rangers manager’s likeness on one side and his words of wisdom on the other. They sold the shirts for $20 a pop from a website and started raking in the cash.

Only problem, though, was they didn’t check with the Rangers or Major League Baseball, and they weren’t licensed to sell anything related to either. The big boys of baseball sent them a cease-and-desist letter saying they ran afoul of league legalities.

And with that, the little T-shirt business was out, according to a Dallas Morning News article.

There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that MLB plans to file litigation against the kid who dressed as Washington for Halloween.

I think.
