Rangers Sale Almost a Done Deal

Final vote on Thursday.

The sale of the Texas Rangers to a group headed by Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan and sports lawyer Chuck Greenberg has cleared the first two hurdles and will go to a final vote Thursday.

The Major League Baseball ownership committee and executive council each unanimously approved the sale Wednesday at the quarterly owners' meetings in Minneapolis.

All that remains for the sale to be finalized is a final vote of all teams Thursday.

Commissioner Bud Selig made approval sound certain, saying "all is well that ends well."

Ryan and Greenberg went through a contentious auction with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban last week and won with a bid of $590 million.
