The Rangers' top winter priority is upgrading its starting pitching but they're also going to be looking for a bat.
Target: Allen Craig, OF/DH
2014 stats: .215 batting average, .279 on-base percentage, 20 doubles, eight home runs, 46 RBIs in 126 games
The Boston Red Sox acquired Craig from St. Louis at the deadline in hopes a change of scenery and a beautiful hitters' park would rejuvenate him. It did the opposite, as Craig sunk to .128 batting average in his 29 games as a member of the Red Sox.
Now, Boston is looking to shop him, and the Rangers could be a potential suitor.
The one catch with Craig is that his contract was backloaded, so a team trading for him would need to pick up a lot of money on an aging player. But when he's right, he can hit the baseball, and he's proven that over time with three strong years prior to last season.
