Red Oak's Michelle Carter is advancing to the women's shot put final at the 2012 London Games.
Carter's best throw Monday morning was 18.63m and was reached on her second toss. Her first toss hit 18.27m and her third toss was disqualified.
Carter is the only representative for the American's left in the event. Tia Brooks and Jillian Camarena-Williams didn't make the cut. See all results here.
The final of the women's shot put will be held at 1:15 p.m. Monday.
Carter and her father Michael both hold the National High School records in shot put. Michelle set the record in 2003 at the Texas state championship; her father set the record in 1979.
