The TCU Horned Frogs plan a little celebration for themselves following a series of firsts for the team.

This season marked the Frogs’ first undefeated campaign since the 1938 national champion squad accomplished the feat. It won 13 games for the first time in school history. And the Rose Bowl win — 21-19 over Wisconsin — accounted for the first BCS bowl game for TCU and the school’s first Rose Bowl appearance.

All worthy of celebration, and celebrate they will.

The school and athletic department want fans to head over to the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum at 4 p.m., Jan. 16, for a postseason throw-down. It features coach Gary Patterson, TCU chancellor Victor Boschini, TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte, and Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, all of whom will serve up the obligatory — but deserved — platitudes.

The party is free to all who want to join in. Doors and concession stands open at 2:30 p.m. Flasks open soon after your arrival.

Congrats, Frogs. Here’s to the move to the Big East and a real shot at the BCS title, which you probably should have had this year.
