Woman Found Fatally Shot in Idling Car Outside Love Field Motel

Dallas police said they found a fatally shot woman in an idling car outside a motel near Love Field early Tuesday morning.

Officers arrived at the Love Field Inn in the 3100 block of West Mockingbird Lane at 12:05 a.m. and found the woman slumped over the steering wheel of a red Dodge Charger.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials declared the woman dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

The victim has not been identified.

Guests at the motel said they had noticed the car parked outside since about noon Monday where it was idling with the woman inside and the windshield wipers going. Most thought the woman was sleeping until they realized how long the vehicle had been there and someone finally checked on her.

Cathy Thompson, who's lived at the motel for nearly three years, said many of the residents at the motel are long-term stays and tend to know everybody else staying there. She said the woman in the car was a stranger to them.

"Never seen her before," she said. "It's real scary because nothing like this ever happened."

Thompson said that one neighbor did mention hearing pops and seeing someone exit the vehicle, but besides that she’d heard no reports that anyone had seen the shooting.

The woman is said to be in her 30s, but police released few other details.

Dallas police asked anyone with any information about the incident call them at 214-671-3661 or 214-671-3612. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 to anyone who calls 214-373-8477 (TIPS) with for information leading to an indictment.
