Flooding Forces School Closures in Navarro County

All independent school districts located in Navarro County were scheduled to be closed Monday, with the exception of Corsicana ISD, due to poor road conditions resulting from flooding.

Kerens ISD

  • Classes will resume as normal Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Mildred ISD

  • Tuesday, Oct. 27: Classes start at 9 a.m. and buses will run at 8 a.m.
  • Eagles Varsity Football will play Blooming Grove on Monday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. at Home.

Dawson ISD

  • Classes will resume at normal times Tuesday.

Blooming Grove ISD

  • Classes will resume Tuesday. School buses will not run on gravel or dirt roads until it is decided those roads are safe for buses.

Frost ISD

  • Classes will resume at normal times Tuesday.

Rice ISD

  • Classes will resume at normal times Tuesday.

Corsicana ISD

Monday, Oct. 26: Classes begin at 10 a.m., teachers report to work at regular times. Early release will run as listed below on Tuesday and Wednesday:

  • High School 11:30 a.m.
  • All Elementary Schools 11:45 a.m.
  • Collins Middle School 11:55 a.m.
  • Drane Intermediate School 12:00 p.m.

In Addition, authorities in Navarro County said a levee breach forced the closure of Farm to Market Road 1126 Sunday afternoon.[[336919761,R]]

The levee breach happened underneath the FM 1126 bridge, just west of Interstate 45.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Navarro County until 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management.
