Arrest Made in Colony Robbery, Murder Case

Flowers are still fresh outside the Rapido Convenience store in The Colony, and so is the death of Samira Siwakoti in the minds of those who loved her.

"We've all been broken, offset and it’s hard,” brother Bishnu Siwakoti said.

The 31-year-old mother of two was shot to death ten days ago while working at the store. Police released surveillance video and identified the suspect as 19-year-old Deon Kingston, Jr.

"He's so young. How cruel is he? How could he do that,” Siwakoti said.

After the surveillance video was released, police said an anonymous tip led detectives to Kingston.

Investigators were able to track Kingston to a friend's home in Frisco where he was wanted for a separate armed robbery a month ago.

"We were in the process of setting up a cordon around the house with Frisco PD when the suspect actually got wind of what was happening and fled on foot before hiding in the neighborhood,” Colony Police Chief David Coulon said.

Kingston was eventually arrested Thursday.

Customers who knew Siwakoti say it feels like a weight has been lifted. “About a thousand bricks just off your shoulders because not only are we happy for the family and the sense of relief that they're getting but we're also happy for people around this area because you'll never be able to do this to anybody else again,” customer Alicia Mims said.

Siwakoti's brother Bishnu says the community's support has helped him cope. The store re-opened this week and he feels an arrest allows their family to move forward.

"I think her soul will rest in peace and no more lives will be taken by him,” he said.

Police believe there could be more arrests made in the case. They say Kingston is also being looked at as a possible suspect in at least one other robbery in The Colony.
