Man Taken Down By ‘Mama Bear' After Chase Goes on Trial

Artrai Alexander is charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest

The man taken down by a North Texas mother following a high speed-chase through Dallas is on trial this week.

Artrai Alexander is charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

Last year, video of Jessica Liesmann went viral when she confronted the Alexander, who was fleeing police, after he slammed into her minivan at a red light in North Dallas.

Her 13-year old son and her boyfriend were also in the car.

Liesmann, not knowing the man was involved in a police chase, immediately jumped out of her van, rushed over to the driver and slammed his car door into his body before grabbing him by the shirt and wrestling him down.

Liesmann is expected to testify.

The man who owned the stolen car testified on Wednesday.

Drecelus Hunter said his car was parked at a convenience store. He left it unlocked with the engine running while he was inside purchasing items.

Hunter said a friend who was with him noticed a man jump into the driver's seat.

"That's when I run outside to my car," Hunter told the jury. "That's when I opened the door."

Hunter said Alexander pointed a gun at him.

"That's when I threw my hands up. I slammed the door and threw my hands up," Hunter said. "He could've shot me. He could've ran me over. He could've done all kinds of things."

Prosecutors hope to reach a verdict before the end of the week.
