Texas Shooting Ranch Ideal Location for ‘Shotgun Weddings'

A Texas ranch is redefining what it means to have a "shotgun wedding" by combining a shooting course with a breathtaking wedding venue.

"I started putting in a sporting clay course, and with the terrain, the ladies got to coming out here and liked what they saw, and somehow we got into the wedding business," said 6-S Ranch owner Marvin Scarborough.

6-S Ranch, in the East Texas town of Lindale, said they can accommodate any type of event including "weddings, receptions, rehearsals, banquets, parties, reunions, corporate meetings" and, of course, shooting range events.

"Most people will focus on the bride," event coordinator Teri Dixon told KETK-TV in Tyler. "The first thing I actually do is let the guys know, because usually they're kind-of like, 'Oh gosh, I'm being dragged into this,' so it's nice because I can basically tell them we've got something for the groom out here."

The ranch boasts a temperature-controlled barn with a full commercial kitchen and a 2,400-square-foot pavilion with a cookhouse. Ceremonies are done under a pergola overlooking a hillside and the shooting course is a 12-station clay range with one 5-stand field and a pistol pit.
