Texas Fighter Convicted of Murder, Sentenced to 28 Years

A mixed martial arts fighter in Southeast Texas has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for the 2011 fatal shooting of a man on a bicycle after the pair argued.

Jurors in Galveston on Wednesday convicted Ralph "Plexin Texan" Garcia Jr. of murder. A judge then sentenced Garcia to prison over the slaying of Maxie Flowers.

Flowers was found dead on Oct. 13, 2011, on a Galveston street.

The Galveston County Daily News reports prosecutors accused Garcia of hunting down Flowers after the two Galveston men had a run-in the previous day.

Investigators say Garcia allegedly felt disrespected by Flowers.
