Twin Teen Brothers Shot, One Fatally, Suspect in Custody

Teen shooting suspect awaiting arraignment in Johnson County

A 17-year old was fatally shot and his twin brother was wounded Saturday while waiting in a Burleson school parking lot to have a fight with someone, police say. The suspected shooter surrendered to police after the incident and is in custody.

At about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a shooting in the parking lot of Mound Elementary School.

Investigators said Cameron Lewis was sitting in a parked vehicle and his twin brother was standing nearby when someone pulled up on a street adjacent to the school's parking lot.

Moments later, several gunshots were fired and both twins were struck.

Cameron Lewis, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead after being airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital.

Lewis' twin brother, whose name has not been confirmed, was transported to the same hospital for a gunshot wound to his foot. Police said his injury is not life threatening.

City of Burleson spokeswoman DeAnna Phillips said Monday that an 18-year-old surrendered after the shooting. Police later identified the suspected shooter as Tristan Torres.

Police said Torres and the Lewis brothers knew each other and randomly selected the school as the meeting location for their fight. Why the teens wanted to fight has not been revealed.

As of Monday morning, Torres is awaiting arraignment in the Johnson County Corrections Center.
