Suspect in Slaying of Texas Store Clerk Pleads Not Guilty

A man charged in the March abduction and eventual death of a Central Texas store clerk has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Nathaniel Tillery of Bryan remains in custody as he faces murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges. A Brazos County grand jury in May indicted Tillery, who pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

College Station police on March 17 responded to a customer's report of an empty convenience store. Security video indicated clerk Kevin Garcia was beaten and abducted during a robbery attempt.

Police say Garcia was throw into the bed of his own pickup truck and driven to the Fort Worth area. Tillery was arrested after driving to a relative's home. The critically injured Garcia was still in the vehicle.

The clerk died March 20 at a hospital.
