Storms Flood Waxahachie Businesses, Homes

Several offices and businesses in Waxahachie reported flooding after Sunday's storms.

Water rushed into the Waxahachie Police Department and flooded their offices early Monday morning.

The office sustained some water damage to carpet and floorboards. Waxahachie police chief Wade Goolsby said operations will not be affected as crews dry the office.[[301404641,C]]

The College Street Pub, next door to the police department, was also flooded overnight. The owner told NBC 5 that up to four feet of water flooded the restaurant at one point.

"We couldn't even get in through the front door," employee Nici Strickland said. "The water was rushing through the streets, rushing past our door. It actually broke our front door."

Strickland and other employees have been mopping floors for hours to try to open by lunch Monday.

"When you're a small business the fear of not being open, that's money" Strickland said.[[301405191,C]]
