State, Local Authorities Prepared for Severe Weather

Due to a severe weather threat which could bring heavy rain and flooding, Governor Gregg Abbott announced state resources are available for rapid deployment as needed to assist local authorities.

The Texas State Operations Center will be elevated to Level 3 activation on Sunday morning.

"We urge all Texans to closely monitor developing weather as the state prepares for the possibility of heavy rainfall, tornadoes and flooding," said Abbott. "It is crucial that Texans stay away clear of rising waters and heed warnings from state and local officials, who stand ready to assist and support communities impacted as this weather system passes through Texas."

Dallas Fire Rescue increased staffing levels at seven of its boat stations.

"Whenever we have severe weather coming in, with flash floods, we like to have every person swift water trained," said Charlie Abney, a member of Dallas Fire Rescue's swift water rescue team. "The last two years now, this has been our busy season."
