The one-day camp aims to “provide children of freethinking parents a residential summer camp dedicated to improving the human condition through rational inquiry, critical and creative thinking, scientific method, self-respect, ethics, competency, democracy, free speech and the separation of religion and government guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States."
Exactly what all kids want to do before heading back to school.
The camp is hosted by the North Texas Church of Freethought. While parents already have many other secular camps to choose from where basket weaving and different types of learning are the main course, Camp Quest is specifically for those who question religion.
The camp is for ages 5-13 and will be held at Cathy's Critters Farm in Princeton, east of McKinney. According to the camp's Web site, details of activities are still forthcoming, but will include, "learning about different animals, making pottery, and having lots of great fun."
