A Southern Methodist University student whose body was found in Barr Pool Thursday morning is believed to have died of natural causes.
School officials released a statement early Thursday afternoon saying the student was found at about 9 a.m. in Barr Pool and that preliminary indications are that there was no foul play involved.
The identity of the student has not yet been confirmed.
An investigation into the death is being conducted by SMU police with assistance from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
SMU officials said counseling is being provided to students and will continue to be available through SMU Counseling Services and the Office of the Chaplain.
"Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and other loved ones at this time," the school said in a statement.
According to a post on the SMU Barr Pool/Perkins Natatorium Facebook page, the pool is closed until further notice.
