Power to several large apartment and loft complexes in the Dallas Design District was knocked out after a serious crash Tuesday morning.

Dallas firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Hiline Drive where a small SUV was found on its side after hitting a power pole.

Power lines were downed in the crash, which knocked out power to some buildings in the area.

The adult male driver was partially ejected and trapped under the vehicle under rescue workers used airbags to extract him from the vehicle. The driver has been transported to Parkland Hospital in serious condition.

Police say the SUV appears to have been traveling eastbound on Hiline when the driver lost control and struck the pole.
