Houston police say an off-duty Harris County deputy constable shot a robber who attacked him in the parking lot of a Vietnamese restaurant that he co-owns.
Police said one of two robbers hit Officer Dao Nguyen over the head with a wrench on Monday and that the men stole a bank bag full of cash that he was carrying. Nguyen fell to the pavement but was able to pull out a pistol and shoot at the robbers.
It is unclear how many shots he fired.
Police said the suspects were later arrested at an area hospital. One of the men had been shot but didn't release his condition. Their identities have not been released.
Nguyen was treated at an area hospital and released.
