North Texans Honor the Fallen on Memorial Day

North Texans are paying their respects to the nation's fallen men and women in uniform this Memorial Day.

Thousands of people visited the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery – the final resting place for countless heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe.

A bugler performed "Taps," and names of those buried at the cemetery were read aloud at a memorial service that also featured cannon blasts.

There was also a large turnout at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth for a solemn ceremony Monday morning that began with a horse-drawn carriage carrying a flag-draped coffin followed by a riderless horse.

Organizers say their message every Memorial Day is the men and women who died serving our country are the real superheroes.
