Mesquite Police Arrest Man Suspected in Fatal Shooting

Police said they arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting a man in a Mesquite apartment Sunday morning.

Mesquite Police Department officials said they responded at 10:30 a.m. to a call about a deceased person at the Churchill Crossing Apartments in the 3700 block of Gus Thomasson Road.

Officers arrived at the apartment and found 41-year-old Francisco Vaquier dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head.

After investigating, police said they issued a warrant for 42-year-old Mauro Ramos Cruz, who was living with Vaquier's ex-girlfriend in the same apartment complex.

Police said they found Cruz trying to blend in with a group of day laborers Wednesday in the 1400 block of Carroll Avenue in Dallas. Officers arrested him and charged him with murder.
