Arkansas State Police and the Hempstead County Sheriff's office are working with Texas law enforcement officers to investigate the death of a man found in a burned vehicle near the Arkansas-Texas state line.

The car, registered to a Saratoga, Ark., resident, was discovered Saturday by Bowie County sheriff's deputies who responded to a report of a burning vehicle.

Hempstead County deputies went to the home listed on the vehicle's registration and found evidence of a disturbance inside.

Bowie County Sheriff James Prince told the Texarkana Gazette that after Hempstead County officials notified them about what they found, officers returned to the scene and made the grisly discovery.

Prince said investigators believe the death is a homicide. The identity and manner of death of the victim hasn't been determined.
