Arson investigators said they are trying to determine who is responsible for setting the fire in front of the home in the 7100 block of Arborcrest Drive. The homeowner arrived at home at about 4 a.m., just before firefighters, and burned his leg trying to put out the fire.

Authorities said they transported the victim to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. His condition is not yet known.

The victim's identity has not yet been released, but a neighbor told NBC 5 that a man has lived alone in the home for the past four years.

The fire did not spread to the rest of the house, firefighters said.

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan contributed to this report.
