A Fort Wayne attorney and his former law firm are defending advice they gave to a former Navy SEAL who wrote a book describing the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
Kevin Podlaski and his former firm, Carson Boxberger LLC, say in court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne last week that Matt Bissonnette disregarded advice that he submit his 2012 book "No Easy Day" for government clearance.
Bissonnette, a Texas resident, alleges he was given bad advice that tarnished his reputation and caused him to surrender much of the book's income to the government. The Texas man contends he was advised he didn't have to submit his book to the Department of Defense for a pre-publication review.
The lawsuit was transferred to Fort Wayne from New York last November.
