Two young children, one of whom told a passer-by "My mother is dead," have led South Texas deputies to a house where the bodies of two women were found, including the mother.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said the passer-by found the children, ages 5 and 6, found wandering the street of their subdivision north of Weslaco about 7 a.m. Sunday.
Trevino said that when the children told the person that they were going to their grandmother's house, the person asked where their parents were. That's when one replied that their mother was dead.
No identities have been released, but Trevino said a woman's abduction nearby is believed to be related to the double homicide. She escaped.
Trevino said a suspect is identified, but his identity hasn't been released.
