A man who crashed into a creek Tuesday night in Sunnyvale has died.

Police said 73-year-old Clare Casebolt went off the road near Belt Line and East Tripp roads at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and ended up in a creek.

Rescuers arrived and pulled Casebolt from his truck as it slowly sank.  No one else was in the truck at the time of the crash.

Casebolt was flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital, but died Wednesday morning.

Efforts to remove the truck from the creek were hindered Tuesday night after a cable being used to pull the vehicle from the water snapped.

Crews returned to the creek Wednesday morning and removed the truck shortly after 10 a.m.
