Innovative Dallas HS Floral Program Vandalized Again

People recently broke into Skyline HS, smashed several vases

For the second time in two years, the students involved in an innovative program at Dallas’ Skyline High School are picking up the pieces after a break-in.

Earlier this month, someone broke into the Skyline Floral program's classroom and smashed most of the vases the students use.

“There’s always that, ‘What’s going to happen next?’" floral design instructor Shawn Coyle said. “That fear."

Coyle said he has been able to restock many small vases already thanks to partnerships the program has established with other floral shops in the city.

But his next challenge is to find large vases, preferably in pairs, Coyle said, that can allow the students to produce top quality large arrangements that help them to develop a professional-level portfolio.

If anyone can help with providing vases, they should contact Skyline High School.

The Skyline Floral program is a hands-on program that has produced more than 150 certified florists recently. Students produce floral arrangements for school and community functions as well as holiday bouquets for purchase. Last Valentine’s Day, the program churned out arrangements for fellow classmates that featured more than 2,000 flowers in total.
