Houston Man Pleads Guilty in Attempted ATM Robbery

Prosecutors said a Houston man who shot an armored car guard eight times during an attempted robbery faces up to 30 years in prison.

William Hendrick Williams pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery and two counts of interference with commerce by robbery.

The guard survived the October 2013 attack during the attempted robbery of a Garda Cash Logistics truck outside a bank in Humble. Prosecutors said Williams tried to rob the guard as an ATM was being filled.

Investigators said Williams also took part in an August 2013 armored car robbery and pointed a gun at a guard.

Willams, who pleaded guilty Tuesday, remains in custody pending sentencing in February.
