A Garland ambulance is heavily damaged after being hit by a suspected drunk driver Friday night.
The Garland Firefighters Association posted a photo of the damaged truck on its Facebook page on Saturday. They said the unit was the department's newest ambulance and was blocking five firefighters who were feet away.
"We hate to lose any equipment but we would sacrifice any of them to keep one firefighter or citizen safe," the post said.
The group said this crash shows why police and fire crews block off an extra lane of traffic for accidents and is a reminder for people not to drink and drive.
