Fort Worth Police Officer Nearly Hit Trying to Detain Driver at Bank of America

Fort Worth police are searching for the driver who nearly ran over a police officer at a downtown Bank of America branch on May 7.

Police said the driver of a gray Volkswagen CC tried to cash a fake check at the bank. The bank called the police and an officer with the department's downtown bicycle patrol responded. When the officer tried to detain the driver, she drove forward, struck the officer's bike, which then hit the officer, and left the scene.

The bank is located in a parking garage along W. 6th Street between Burnett and Lamar streets.

Police said the vehicle has a possible license plate BJG-9110 and may have minor front end damage from the collision with the bike.

Investigators said the woman may have had a child in the vehicle at the time.

Anyone with information on the woman's identity or location is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS or Detective C. Britt at 817-392-3909.  Tipsters can remain anonymous and a reward of up to $1,000 will be offered to anyone whose information leads to an arrest and indictment.  Tips can also be shared online at www.469tips.com.
