Gay rights activist Jack Evans died Thursday night, just shy of his first wedding anniversary with George Harris, who he'd been with for over 50 years. They were the first same-sex couple legally married in Dallas County last year.
The two were together for 56 years, Rev. Eric Folkerth of Northaven United Methodist Church, said in a Facebook post.
