East Dallas Residents Warn People to Be Aware of Prowlers

Residents in Dallas' Lakewood neighborhood are asking people to be on the lookout for prowlers after two suspicious incidents over the weekend.

According to crime reports, two women reported men coming up to their door and being scared off after realizing people were inside.

In one case in the 7300 block of Coronado Avenue, a child saw the suspect running away from a home. The back gate was left open.

Another incident happened near Wildgrove Avenue and White Rock Road.

Both incidents happened at about 9 a.m. and in both cases, the men got away.

Dallas police said it's possible thieves are casing the neighborhood to determine when people are not at home.

"It's a tight knit community," said neighbor Stephani Vouras. "Everybody keeps an eye on each other. I was surprised, because it's just been a while. We haven't really heard anything like this."

The nearby Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association released crime reports for April, showing a slight uptick in crime.

During the month of April, police responded to three incidents where people were robbed at gunpoint.

Crime watch groups encourage people to call 911 anytime they see suspicious activity. Information collected from those reports could help solve past or future crimes.
