Dallas Police Ask for Help Finding Driver in Fatal Hit and Run

Police said they need the public's help finding a man who fatally struck a pedestrian in Dallas Oct. 11 and fled the scene. [[397558231,C]]

Dallas police said the man was speeding in the 2700 block of East Ledbetter Drive and failed to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk at 9:52 p.m.

The victim was was lifted into the air and into the driver's windshield before coming to rest several feet away, according to police. The victim died at the scene.

After the crash, police said the driver parked his car nearby and walked over to the victim. He then fled without providing aid.

Police described the driver as black male, 21 to 24 years old and short with dread lock hair. His car was described as a white Ford Crown Victoria with damage to the front left headlight and a broken windshield.

Dallas police asked that anyone with information about this incident call their Vehicle Crimes Unit at 214-670-5817.
