Corpus Christi Lifts Boil Drinking Water Advisory

Corpus Christi has lifted a boil water advisory after additional testing came back negative for bacteria.

City officials on Saturday night canceled a boil water order that was in effect since Thursday afternoon amid concerns over E. coli.

Crews did tests on nearly 50 sites and added chlorine to eliminate bacteria after contamination was discovered at two locations in the Flour Bluff area. E. coli was confirmed in the water in what Corpus Christi officials think was an isolated issue.

City spokeswoman Kim Womack says experts believe an irrigation system or a well that crossed the water line may have caused the contamination. Crews will continue working to try to locate the source of the contamination.
