Carnival Worker Accused of Being Tipsy at Work

Drinking and operating a carnival ride is a no-no -- just ask Lewisville police.

An off-duty Lewisville police officer noticed a ride operator swaying by the controls of a ride described as a "purple dinosaur," according to a probable cause affidavit.

The officer confronted the man before a child was about to enjoy the ride, the document says.

The affidavit says the officer performed a field sobriety test and asked the man to recite the alphabet.

The man allegedly told the officer, "I don't know them."

After performing other tests, officers arrested Johnny Ray Andrews on suspicion of operating an amusement ride while intoxicated.

The city of Lewisville later revoked the carnival's operating permit.
