Police have issued a warning for homeowners in McKinney about a burglar who breaks in -- after the homeowners go out of town.

Four houses were broken into Sunday in the Isleworth subdivision, a high-end gated community.

Investigators said things such as newspapers in the front yard, mail in the mailboxes and no lights on in the house tip off the crooks to an easy target.

In all the cases, the burglars forced their way inside through a back door and went straight for the master bedrooms and bathrooms.

They stole jewelry, a handgun and even a safe, totaling more than a $100,000.

McKinney police say a black Hummer that didn’t belong on the street was seen in the neighborhood during the time of the burglaries.
