Austin Jury Acquits Activist in Recording Arrest

An Austin activist has been found not guilty of violating a police officer's order when he tried to take photos of police arresting someone two years ago.

A five-member jury acquitted Antonio Buehler on Wednesday after five hours of deliberations.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that while the 37-year-old Buehler was charged with a misdemeanor, his case raised questions of whether he broke the law when he refused to put his arms behind his back at an officer's order on New Year's Day 2012.

He would have faced a $500 fine if convicted.
