Arlington Murder Suspect Found by Police

A 25-year-old Arlington man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after taking police on a chase that ultimately led to a car crash and his arrest.

Heather Bruenig, of Arlington, was found dead from multiple stab wounds by her roommate Sunday morning.

Bruenig’s boyfriend, identified as Javier Vasquez, was the last person seen with her, police said. Her vehicle was missing from her home when police showed up to the scene in the 1000 block of Royal Circle.

On Sunday afternoon, Vasquez was discovered after an Arlington police officer tried to stop a vehicle that he thought was stolen. Vasquez continued driving and ended up crashing with another car in Grand Prairie, police said.

After the crash, police confirmed that the driver was Breunig’s 25-year-old boyfriend. He was charged Tuesday with the murder of 29-year-old Breunig.
