West Nile virus continues to spread across North Texas where it's been linked to 1,022 human cases, as of Oct. 15, and 40 fatalities.

There have been 20* fatalities in Dallas County, 10 in Tarrant County, two in Denton County, four in Collin County, one in Cooke County, two in Ellis County and one in Lamar County

As of Oct. 15, there are 385 human cases of West Nile virus reported in Dallas County, 20 of which have resulted in death.  

*In the spring of 2013, a person died after contracting West Nile virus in the summer of 2012.

Mosquito Pool Data
Twenty cities, DFW Airport and the unincorporated areas in Tarrant County participate in Tarrant County's Mosquito Surveillance program. As of Sept. 10, 79 mosquito pool samples from the following cities have tested positive for WNV: Arlington (12) Bedford (4), Burleson (5*), Colleyville (5), Edgecliff Village (3), Euless (3), Fort Worth (9), Grapevine (3), Haltom City (2), Hurst (9), Kennedale (1), Mansfield (3), Richland Hills (5), River Oaks (5), Saginaw (1), Southlake (6) and Westover Hills (6).

*The pools in Burleson are not in Tarrant County.

Collin County (West Nile webpage)

Human Case Information
As of Oct. 15, in Collin County, 76 cases of West Nile virus have been reported in humans, four of which have resulted in death.

Denton County (West Nile webpage)

Human Case Information
As of Oct. 15, In Denton County, 182 human cases of West Nile virus have been reported including two fatalities. The cases were found in Denton, Lewisville, The Colony, Highland Village, Flower Mound, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Frisco, Pilot Point, Trophy Club, Corinth and southern unincorporated Denton County.

Mosquito Pool Data
As of Sept. 4, 77 mosquito traps have tested positive for West Nile virus in the cities of Carrollton, Dallas, Denton, Flower Mound and Lewisville. See a trap map here.

Cooke County
Human Case Information
As of Oct. 15, Cooke County has six human cases. One person has died after contracting the virus.

As of Oct. 15, Ellis County has 24 reported cases. Two people have died after contracting the virus.
