A North Texas company is hoping to make spa pedicures safer.

An Arlington company has invented a new jet for spa tubs that is easier to clean.

Traditional spa tubs with jets and pipes are difficult to clean and can harbor harmful bacteria and fungi. But Luraco's jet is powered by magnets.

The Magnajets are pipeless, removable and easy to sanitize, making customers feel better about an already relaxing experience.

"I love to have my toenails painted, but I don't want a staph infection, so hearing about the clean tanks and the sanitary procedures definitely makes it more relaxing instead of being a worry," said Kristi Burdette, a customer at Nail Pro and Spa in Fort Worth.

A North Texas company has invented new spa pedicure jets that are easier to sanitize to avoid a buildup of harmful bacteria and fungi.

The salon recently replaced all of its old spa chairs with Magnajets.

"We can be fined anywhere from $500 to $2,500 if it's not cleaned properly," salon manager Tiffany Palmer said.

Luraco said the state just approved the new design.

The company is also working on a Magnajet system for home whirlpools. It expects that to be available by summer.
