Stephen Colbert Lands Sports Illustrated Cover

"Colbert Report" host promotes Olympic speedskaters

Tip of the hat to Stephen Colbert for landing on the cover of Sport Illustrated’s latest issue.

The faux conservative Comedy Central host appears on S.I.’s “2009 year in sports media” edition dressed in an Olympic speedskating uniform and necktie, The Associated Press reports.

No surprise why he chose to suit up as a speedskater for the photo shoot, which now puts him in the company of countless swimsuit models and sports legends who have graced S.I’s cover over the years.

In November, Colbert led a fundraising campaign to raise money for the U.S. Olympic team after their primary sponsor, DSB Bank NV, backed out of its commitment.

“Colbert Nation,”as the host is apt to refer to his fans, has since raised more than $250,000 for the team, according to the AP.

Other comedians who have appeared on the sports mag’s cover include Bob Hope and Chris Rock.
