Lil Wayne has been released from prison, according to prison records.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper, who served eight months for having a loaded gun on his tour bus, was released from the Rikers Island prison facility Thursday morning, according to the New York Department of Corrections. His managers said the celebrity was headed for his Miami home.
The multiplatinum-selling artist emerged with his career in high gear. His latest album, "I Am Not a Human Being,'' hit No. 1 on the chart after its September release.
The rapper told fans through a website Tuesday that he "was never scared, worried nor bothered'' behind bars.
He pleaded guilty last year to attempted weapon possession. He started a year-long sentence in March but got time off for good behavior.
