Celebrate family health and personal well-being while learning how to green your lifestyle at the Learn 2 Live Green (L2LG) event, Saturday, April 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Shops at Legacy in Plano. This Green Your Well-Being themed event aims at enhancing community awareness about issues that impact people and the planet. Enjoy free children’s activities, live performances and hands-on learning experiences at this family-friendly event.
Be sure to catch the keynote speaker, 2013 CNN Hero of the Year Chad Pegracke, share his story about “Helping Clean America’s Rivers: From the Bottom Up.” Also, see “Heroes Next Door: How the Power of One Impacts an Entire Community,” featuring a panel of local heroes in a discussion about taking action to change North Texas.
At 2:30 p.m., local gardening expert Howard Garrett, a.k.a. The Dirt Doctor, will take the stage to provide tips on how to utilize natural and organic techniques in gardening and landscaping.
New family activities include Michael Fitzsimmons’ Drums of the World and Audience Drum Circle, Austin Bike Zoo’s butterfly bikes, and the Mountain Bike Track. The Food Fun Zone will feature healthy food, kid-proof recipes and food art. Watch demonstrations by local chefs from Seasons 52, Mexican Sugar, Eatzies and Central Market. The Food Zone will feature Chef Evelyn from Urban-Foodie.com, who has worked with Oprah’s private cook, Chef Art Smith, and with the Food Network’s Guy Fieri and Mario Batali.
