Ware: Tyron Smith “Is Really a Natural”

The 21-year-old Smith will move from right to left tackle this season

Right tackle-turned-left tackle Tyron Smith is still learning his new position, but through the first week of training camp, he’s shown enough to draw the praise of DeMarcus Ware--the All-Pro outside linebacker (and perhaps the best pass rusher in the NFL) who will be doing battle with the 21-year-old each day for the next three weeks or so.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas, Ware has gotten the better of Smith for the most part thus far, which isn’t really surprising considering that Ware gets the better of just about every left tackle in the league. The good news for Cowboys’ fans is that Ware might be the toughest test Smith faces in all of his first season on the left side--and even against a beast like Ware, he’s shown flashes of brilliance.

“I’m really seeing maturity from Tyron Smith” Ware said this week. “He’s a guy that can learn that position really fast. The strength that he brings from the right side is really unbelievable. And he’s got great feet, too. He’s really a natural.”
