Steve Smith Enters Giants-Eagles Verbal Smackdown

Even in the midst of the lockout, old NFC East rivalries continue to thrive.

We posted last week on some fightin’ words exchanged between the Philadelphia Eagles’ LeSean McCoy and New York Giants defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora. In summary, McCoy told the Twitterverse that Umenyiora was (sic) “overrated n soft.”

Umenyiora responded through more traditional means, the Newark Star-Ledger, saying, “I mean, he’s a girl, man. Who does stuff like that? If he has more of these things to say, he can say ‘em to my face.  Don’t be no Twitter gangster man.”

The McCoy-Umenyiora feud seems far from over, and what with the lockout and all, we couldn’t be happier. After all, with no football, we may as well enjoy a high level exchange of bulletin board material between two of the Cowboys hated division rivals.

Enter Steve Smith, Giants’ receiver, YFrog user and apparent Photoshoppe enthusiast. Smith published a photo to his YFrog account recently of he, Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin celebrating the team’s 2007 Super Bowl victory. In the middle of the photo is a photo of a trophy case--it’s empty, and has the Eagles logo on it.

The Eagles have yet to win a Championship in the Super Bowl era, you see, and Smith would like to remind everyone of that fact.

The photo is accompanied by the message, apparently directed at McCoy (again, sic): “The nerve of certain youngins running their mouth. Please don't forget”

We won’t Steve. And for the sake of a juicy storyline, we hope LeSean won’t either.
