Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden fell just a yard short of 100 against the Bills on Sunday, and is now just three yards from going over 1,000 in a season for the second time in his career and the first since 2010.

If McFadden gets those yards against the Redskins in Week 17, it will mark the first time in Cowboys history that they had two different running backs run for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons.

Of course, a year ago, DeMarco Murray went for 1,845 yards on his way to being named AP Offensive Player of the Year.

The 28-year-old McFadden, who was acquired just after Murray left for Philadelphia in the offseason, has made no secret of what the mark would mean to him personally.

It definitely would mean a whole lot, something I would definitely like to have,” McFadden told the team’s official website last week. “It’s a long football season, it’s been a long season so it’s one of those things that you just have to keep grinding and grind the rest of these games out.”
