For the seven Dallas Cowboys who are in Glendale, AZ for the Pro Bowl--and for Dez Bryant, who had to pull out of the game with a lingering groin issue--the honor of being selected for pro football’s All-Star Game can only do so much to assuage the lingering pain of the season coming to a sudden end in Green Bay 11 days ago.

It was tough. We played well the whole game,” long snapper and first time Pro Bowler L.P. Ladouceur told the team’s website this week. “The weather was in our favor. It wasn’t that cold. We played well, but stuff happens. The next thing you know you’re in the locker room like, ‘Where did that go?’ But, it was a hell of a game. We competed our butts off.”

Granted, the way the Cowboys’ improbable playoff run ended was especially painful.

Down 26-21 with a little over four minutes left, Bryant appeared to have caught a pass from Tony Romo (another Pro Bowler) on a 4th and 2 that would have set the team up on the Green Bay one-yard line. But on review, based on a stupid, stupid rule, it was ruled that Bryant did not control the ball going to the ground. Packers ball and, with a pair of first downs, game over, season over.

“Waking up and realizing that the season is over ... it’s a different Monday as previous weeks,” said running back DeMarco Murray last week. “It’s a little hard. It’s frustrating but you know it is what it is. A lot of guys had good individual years but I think at the end of the day you look at what we did as a team and it was good, it wasn’t great, but a lot of guys will learn from it. We’ll have this taste in our mouths for a long time and leading into off season workouts and hope for a different result.”
