DeMarcus Lawrence Breaks Ankle, Out 8-12 Weeks

Defensive end may miss Sept. 7 season opener

There's more bad news for the Dallas Cowboys.

Overnight, NBC 5 learned that defensive end DeMarcus Lawence broke his ankle during Tuesday's practice in Oxnard, California.

NBC 5 Sports was there when the injury occurred.

Lawrence, a second-round draft pick, was able to walk off the field on his own after the injury but then had to be carted off when he reached the sideline.

Our media partners at The Dallas Morning News learned Lawrence could be out as long as 12 weeks recovering.

The 2014 football season starts Sept. 7, which is a little more than five weeks away.
