The Dallas Cowboys announced they haved reached a deal to sign veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez signed with the Denver Broncos after the 2015 season, but was recently cut after the team named Trevor Siemian the starting quarterback.

The Cowboys presumably signed Sanchez to back up Dak Prescott, who is expected to start for the Cowboys against the New York Giants in the season opener Sept. 11.

Sanchez was drafted fifth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft out of USC by the New York Jets. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles.
